The Methane Emerges
Remember that scary scenario I recently mentioned, the one about the world's atmosphere changing rapidly for the worse should global greenhouse effects run too rampant? On that note, this article should help the constipated make their desired releases:

In the past few days, the researchers have seen areas of sea foaming with gas bubbling up through "methane chimneys" rising from the sea floor. They believe that the sub-sea layer of permafrost, which has acted like a "lid" to prevent the gas from escaping, has melted away to allow methane to rise from underground deposits formed before the last ice age.

They have warned that this is likely to be linked with the rapid warming that the region has experienced in recent years.

Methane is about 20 times more powerful as a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide and many scientists fear that its release could accelerate global warming in a giant positive feedback where more atmospheric methane causes higher temperatures, leading to further permafrost melting and the release of yet more methane.

(Emphasis mine.)

This is one of those positive feedbacks Dennis Bushnell mentioned.

You know, while I laughed about the San Antonio shit plant... if scientists can seriously get the ball rolling on collecting and using methane as fuel, you think we have a chance in hell of turning a potentially armaggeddonic development into a fuel source that could reverse matters?

This sure seems a lot more dangerous than cow fats and cow burps which some vegans used to attempt to get me to stop eating beef.

Yeah, that whole cow fart argument always got under my skin. After all, we don't eat grass. If the grass is left to grow and die, it will become food for something, or perhaps just rot anarobically (sp?). Won't that rot cause more methane release than the cow? After all, the cow will extract energy from the digestion to grow and move, energy that would otherwise go into rotting methane releases.

The only way this works; to not let cows breed. Considering how many of these vegans love the religions of India, where cows simply roam unchecked -- the mind boggles.

Grumble grumble grumble. . . .

A quick explosion followed by a quick death wouldn't be so bad. The more I look at this thing, though, the more I see Suck a Bit More each year, leading to life just continuing to suck evermore without respite.

That would suck.
